Notes - UNPROVEN son of John Dennis. The following circumstantial information is presented for the reader's evaluation. Little is known about this descendant of John Dennis and Mary Arnett. The other male children of John and Mary immigrated to Howell and Dent counties of Missouri. John and Mary stayed in Overton county. Back in 2006, a researcher of the SUMMER family brought my attention to a Thomas E. Dennis living in 1840 in Jackson County, TN with spouse Katharine and two children. The researcher, Nancy Livingston searched the census and additional records of Thomas in Jackson County. Thomas' wife Catherine Sommers was a sister to Elizabeth Sommer, her ancestor. The females father, John Sommers was born in Caswell County, North Carolina in the same time period as Thomas Dennis' father. Thomas was named in an estate settlement concerning his father-in-law in 1856. Thomas death date was established "as before June 24, 1868, as mentioned in Jackson County Chancery Court Records."
