  CATHERINE EDMONSON Catherine Eleanor "Katy" Casto Edmonson, 85, died Dec. 3, 2007, at Nathan Adelson Hospice's Buffalo Drive facility in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Alluwe, Nowata County, Okla., the younger of the two children of Bert R. (1891-1974) and Maggie J. Burris (1896-1972) Casto. Bert died in Las Vegas, where he lived with Katy after his wife's death; Maggie died in Tulsa, Okla.; and Katy's only sibling, brother, Bert Roscoe Casto Jr. (1920-1944), died in Chicago. The three family members are buried in Nowata, Okla. Katy is survived by her husband, Richard W. Edmonson Sr. (they married Dec. 28, 1943, in Anderson, Ind.); her two children, Richard W. Edmonson Jr., (wife, Catherine Stanley Edmonson) of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Robert R. Edmonson (companion, Virginia Rae Macy), of Fontana, Calif.; and son-in-law, Charles E. Davis (wife, Dorena Heady Davis), of Bloomington, Ind. Katy's daughter, Phyllis J. Edmonson Davis, died in 2003, in Bloomington. Katy is survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, Richard W. Edmonson III (wife, Carissa Best Edmonson) of Irvine, Calif., children, Julianne and Ricky IV; Patricia Domaratius Smith (husband, Thomas J. Smith) of Pembroke Pines, Fla., children, Lindsey, Emily and T.J.; Katherine Domaratius of Bloomington, Ind., children, Krystal-Ann and Kenan; Cassandra Knight of Bloomington, child, Nate Norris; Kerra Edmonson of Apple Valley, Calif., child, Aurora Edmonson; and Kelsey Edmonson Traub of Las Vegas (husband, Michael G. Traub), stepson, Caine. After high school in Alluwe, Okla., Katy attended Anderson University in Anderson, Ind., from 1940 to 1943. She met and married her husband there. From 1943 to 1964, they lived numerous places during Richard's Air Force years including Dayton and Columbus, Ohio; Fairbanks, Alaska; Laramie, Wyo.; and Mountain Home, Idaho. Katy was active in Officers Wives Clubs, Red Cross Gray Lady and scouting activities during those years. After the Air Force years, she lived in San Bruno and Huntington Beach, Calif., and moved to Las Vegas in 1973. Katy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Las Vegas; the Children's Service Guild of Southern Nevada; Clark County, NV, Genealogical Society; and Valley of Fire Chapter, NSDAR. Visitation will be 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, with a memorial service following at 4 p.m., both at Trinity United Methodist Church, 6151 W. Charleston Blvd., (702) 870-4747.
