30th July 1846
This indenture made and entered into this 30th day of July 1846, by and between Samuel S. Dennis, Sarah Moppin, William Moppin, Jehue S. Dennis, John S. Dennis, Mary Dennis & James P. Dennis, the heirs and legal representatives of Samuel Y. Dennis, dec'd & Elizabeth Dennis the widow of said Samuel Y. Dennis of the first part and Lewis Henry of the second part, all of the county of Morgan and state of Kentucky witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part the following tract or parcel of land cituate laying and being in the county of Morgan and state aforesaid & on the waters of little black water and bounded as follows to wit: beginning at a black oak and.hickory lettered A a N. West corner to a former survey thence N.72 West 294 poles to four hickories and a black gum on a point S.80 West 20 pl to a poplar and three hickories on a branch by a lick S.31 E 350 poles to a stake near the white pines of little black water on the N.W. Side N.29 East 234 poles to the beginning containing two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the same free from the party of the first part their heirs &c. forever unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns and all and every person or persons claiming the same by through or under them the party of the second part by way of quit claim except the said William Moppin he warrants against the claim of Hugh Ward and if any portion of the above tract of land should be lost by Ward's claim then the said Moppin is to refund to the said Henry the value in proportion to the whole tract.
In testimony of which the said party of the first part has set their hands & seals the day & date above written. Commonwealth of Kentucky, Morgan County SS }.
I, John W. Hazelrigg, Clerk of the county court for Saml S. Dennis (S) the county aforesaid do certify that this deed of Jehue S. Dennis (S) conveyance from Samuel S. Dennis, Sarah Moppin, Wm. his(x)mark Moppin (S) William Moppin, Jehue Dennis, Jno S. Dennis, Mary, Sarah her(x)mark Moppin (S) Dennis and James P. Dennis to Lewis Henry was this John S. Dennis (S) day produced to me in my office by the said grantors Mary Dennis (S) & acknowledged by the said Samuel S. Dennis, SSarah, Jas P. Dennis (S) Moppin, William Moppin, Jehue S. Dennis, John S. Elizabeth her(x)mark Dennis(S) Dennis, Mary Dennis & James P. Dennis to be their act and deed hand and seal for the purpose therein contained and thereupon the same is together with this certificate duly recorded in my office. - This DNA line claims to connect to the two Samuels (jr. and Sr.) of Floyd Co., KY. through a 3rd younger Samuel L Dennis, b 1789. However researchers on the KY lines have provided information about this "Samuel L." I only have three desendants for Samuel Jr. with two of those males: Mathias b. 1798 and John Y (Yocum). b. 1801 .
